So this is the BFB, appropriately named by J. And even though it is an SUV that drinks more gas than our Toyota, it is paid for and is quite sufficient in hauling things like Labs, plants for the yard, buckets of coffee grinds for composting from my most EXCELLENT LCS AND AND AND for furniture finds.
They say the early bird gets the worm. It’s true. And all for the whopping price of $30.
Now I know the chair needs a lot of love. The bedside table is going to get sanded, repainted and a new handle. And the bottles are currently soaking in warm soapy water. They are a range of blues, greens and even pinks when the sun in shining through them.
I am thrilled with my finds and hopefully tomorrow we are getting a couch that I found down the road.

My brother’s college roommate’s car tag said “MJ Fan”. It was a great moment when I first saw it. I am wondering if he still has that tag.
My 3rd grade baton routine for the end of the year recital was to Beat It.
One of my best friends, HV, has a great video of her dancing and singing to Thriller that we make her dad pull out when we are drinking.
My oldest childhood friend, Alli, and I used to have lemonade stands in her front yard with Michael blaring from our boombox under the table.
The stories go on and on. Hey Michael thanks for the memories, keep moonwalking wherever you are, music will never be the same without you and finally, rest in peace. You were truly THE KING!
Quote of the Day: “And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.” ~Michael Jackson
I know. Too much. I can’t help it. I miss them all so much. I love them from a distance and worry about all 6 of them as if they were my own. I wish I could kiss all 6 little heads right now, right this minute. Each one of them, in their own little way, can make the worst day, a bad mood or tears just dissipate.
I have said it before and I will say it agan–I cannot imagine our lives without them.
Quote of the Day: When the TV won’t work and your toys fall apart
And you have a sad feeling deep in your heart
You wanna go out but it’s rainin’ out there I want you to know I care
I care, I do, there’s no one like you
~”I Care” by Tom T. Hall
So ALL of my worms crawled of their moist, newspapery bin and died. I wish I was joking. And most of them decided to escape and dry up the day after we had to put Max down so it was not pretty. But these beauties did make it a little better.
So after picking them, regrouping on the thoughts of abandoning the vermiposter and then searching around on my favorite new website, I decided to give the worms another go this coming up weekend after I make some adjustments to their living quarters.
And of course how could I not feel better after an hour of holding hands with my boy? He could do it for hours if I could hold my leg up that long.

Those were the words that Miss S kept repeating last October as we were pear picking. It was one of my favorite days and it was one of the first times she started mocking me like here:
I love this kid! I bent down and was biting my lip to try and get the right shot and although this one is a little blurry, I had to save it because she bent down with me and bit her lip.
She and Jeddy have the serious thing down pat. In fact, I don’t know if I will be able to get great shots like this as they get older.
They will both be 3 in the fall and they never cease to amaze me. They are both so generous. They each have very different but very sweet spirits and I can’t help but be madly in love with them both.
And let me tell you she did not let go of the little pear. It even made it through a diaper change.
And finally it was off with granddaddy. He is one of her favorites for sure.

J’s Big Wheel was his favorite when he was a kid. We are going to have to find one when we have a kid. I remember having one but I don’t remember loving it the way J describes he did. I keep thinking we will run across one when we hit old junk and antique stores but we don’t. I haven’t tried Ebay….hmm…..
Rowdy and I are missing Max today. Rowdy really started “looking” for him this morning while I was getting ready for work. J is taking him swimming this afternoon out at his grandparents’ with his dad, Dakota dog, and his sister, Mindy so he will be in hog heaven with his mind on catching the plastic duck first and making it back to the shore for another jump.
And in the back of my mind I know Max is at his own pond somewhere except now he can run and jump in the water and play like old times.
Dogs’ lives are too short. Their only fault, really.
~Agnes Sligh Turnbull
And so the time has come to say goodbye to our brown boy. A hard decision but a peaceful end. We love you Max and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
Something compelled me to sneak up on these two a few nights ago with my camera in hand. Little did I know that Max would take such a turn for the worst over a period of just a few days. I am glad I was running around snapping photos on this ordinary night. The chocolate horse was one of many nicknames we had for Max and 13 1/2 years is a good run for a lab. It goes without saying our house will not be the same without Max the Million.
